Have stuck with calorie counting as primary means of controlling weight lose. I do walk my dog every day but only about 1.5 miles a day on avg. Only a couple of lbs away form target weight of 175lbs. Yeah! (**Pretty sure I've lost more muscle than I should have, which isn't good for 70+ year old man. Yikes!**)

Well done!
Strength training isn't a bad idea. My parents go to the gym 4 times a week and work with weights. They're in their upper 60's and seeing terrific results.0 -
If you can, weight training is good. My dad is 83 and only uses 5 lb weights but still works out! Both my parents are super healthy - walk an hour every day.0
