    Hi:
    welcome to MFP
Exercise is for fitness and health
Eating at a deficit ( calories burned higher than calories ingested) is for decreasing body weight
Even if you do not exercise at all, you could lose weight if you are eating at a deficit.
Any exercise is good, however you can not out exercise excessive eating ( not eating at a deficit)
I recommend you read MFP Most helpful post, at the beginning of the "getting started" message board
    Here is a link

Buy yourself a food scale with a tare button, weigh all food you ingest, Log it at MFP. Eat at a deficit.

Good luck in your healthy journey

I have a membership to OTF, and really love it! I will say however, that my weight loss really has come from calories in vs calories out, although I do account for exercise in my TDEE calculation.

OTF is an added plus to my overall well being because I feel my body is recompositioning. I used to never do any strength training, and with OTF being a blend of strength and cardio, I'm building nice lean muscle. I think its a great compliment to your diet, but wouldn't rely on it solely for weight loss which will be more so centered to how many calories you are taking in.

    Hope that helps :)

Can you sync your Orangetheory workout to this app ?

I LOVED Orange Theory. Some people doubt the high calorie burns but they seemed accurate to me because I factored them in to my calorie counting and got super fit. I created custom OTF exercise entries in MFP to add the calorie burns to the app.

Long term, after about two years, I had to stop OrangeTheory because it was too high impact for a back/hip problem. I am not sure if it contributed to that decline (all the sprinting and jumping and hills) or if was just a coincidence. I miss it terribly! Great sense of community there too if you pick certain time slots and go regularly.

I enjoyed the OTF atmosphere. I did it for a few months, and then the pandemic shut everything down and I haven't been back. I may join again this fall. I didn't lose any weight doing it, but I felt good getting the exercise done. To lose weight though, eat fewer calories than you use.
