Vitamin tablets?

As I've cut down my calories quite a lot usually to around 1200, I usually also take multi vitamin tablets.
Is this a good idea? (I know getting it from food is better, but I want to know if this is the next best thing)

I went to a nutrition seminar at my gym. The personal trainers told us that it's best to take a multivitamin because we will never get all of the vitamins we need from just food. I realized that once I started logging my food on here. I recently ran out of multivitamins and need to buy some more.0

I take a multivitamin. Being in a calorie deficit I figure it is better to play it safe. I noticed pretty quickly that I had a lot more energy when I started taking them. Particularly when I changed brands from the generic store brand to the One A Day brand.0
