    last month:

I lost my car and apartment keys! can you give me a ride home from work (at 11pm) ?

okay, you lost your keys.. make a back-up set, okay?

    okay

telephone call this morning: I lost my apartment and car keys again! I've looked everywhere.

you have a back-up set, right?

    no, I didn't make one

oh... you're screwed. figure this out on your own.

can I have $100 for Uber.

No. figure this out on your own.

Tile Mate - Key Finder. Phone Finder. Anything Finder (around $25); extra keys ($4 - $6)

yeah, I just saw those on amazon

I told her: look you only have one set of car keys left, I gave you the back-up. Treat 'em like gold.

She actually is at her boyfriend's house right now, locked out of her apartment and needs a ride to work.

Figure it out. It's an expensive lesson.

I agree with this level of tough love. Sounds like she is in her apartment and safe. Time to learn how to deal with real life

this real life parenting is kicking my *kitten*.

I had no idea raising a daughter could be such torture. (really, the word fits, trust me; it does.)

my dad told me years ago: "She's going to give you trouble, a lot of trouble."

    edit: apologies for the rant.

it's either vent here or risk a potential blow-up in talking to her... I really don't want the blow-up.

Yes but probably won't happen again now that it's her lesson to learn. You done good.

    she loses a lot often.

she came over to our house yesterday for mother's day.

her iphone looks like it was in a terrorist explosion, I'm not sure how it could get so broken, chipped and shattered in such a short amount of time

her car... looks like a rolling dumpster. I think it's a reflection of her psyche.

one step forward, two steps back

    good lord

I just bought a car, picking it up this week, for her....

I'm having real reservations now about letting her have it.

It won't be in my name, no way; I don't want the liability

at what point in life do you get your act together?? .... I know, I know.... it takes time.

I still drive the car I got for my 18th birthday. In 2001. Y'all make me feel like I'm doing something right with my life. Thanks! (I will probably have my own parenting hell stories in the future, since this kid is genetically half me)

our daughter is loving and kind too .... but she has had some issues that almost broke this family apart

Are they close in age at all?

Mine are 3 1/2 years apart. I sometimes wished that parenting the oldest would auto rub off on the youngest . think again..
