    I'm confuse now so tea is dinner so what is tea?

    Ya, I thought British "tea" was tea (like orange pekoe or some black tea), and "tea time" was like a 4 pm snack with tea (the hot steeped drink) and cookies or something. I always assumed dinner was after that.

    Random thought
    I remember ordering iced tea in Florida and it was literally cold tea, with no sugar...disgusting.

    It's a carry over from what was High Tea, which was eaten after 5pm - a formal'ish setting, not to be confused with Low Tea.
