Last night I went to a great concert in a beautiful outdoor venue. Everything was spectacular- the music, the weather... Everything except the couple in front of me who lit up my face with their bright smart phones- recording the event in increments and posting it to their Facebook page. And then checking in to see who posted a response. REALLY? Am I that out of touch? This makes me furious. PLEASE anyone reading this post- if you go to a concert-- consider others -- before you ruin someone's fun with constant annoying smart phone interaction. UGH.... HATE FACEBOOK FANATICS!!!!!

Question : Why were you paying attention to the people on their phone, and having disregard for the concert at hand?5
-
That might have been me. Sorry0

I believe their light was interfering with her view. I feel the same way when folks in front cannot stop their comments and discussion. Just enjoy the darn show people....5

I went to a concert last week and about 75% of the people there could not detach from their phones.. it was not just facebook either. We live in a different age (at least I do) in which the finer things like enjoying loud rock concert (and I might add rock legends) does not trump staying off your phone.

I go to lots of shows throughout the year and this annoys me too. By all means, take a few photos or record a clip, I know people like to have a few memories of the show and that's fine. But standing there the whole time with your phone up or updating social media is really annoying. Everyone can do what they like if they've paid the ticket price, but when I've also bought a ticket and all I can see if a bright screen in front of me, I'm going to be annoyed.3

Then they should stay home and watch on their phones.....

Some people have to announce what they're doing and where they're at at all times to keep status. Unfortunately, that's the world now.

The people saying that she should have been paying attention to the concert and not the cell phone in her face clearly haven't been a short person trying to see the stage while at a concert.8
-
if you didn't have assigned seats, or were on lawn seating maybe you should have moved.
if not, i wouldn't have seen any problem with you asking someone to dim their screen a little. I mean, it's not like you telling them to stop, just that the brightness was interfering too much.
the irony is, of course, you being so concerned with what they were doing while they were looking online for people concerned with what they were doing.1 -
I think I will quote what someone else said, "it is what it is".. but when you get right down to it, what are we gonna do about it? There is a million reasons to complain about cell phone use.. The concert was probably one of the ones where the cell phone usage was safest. That is what I came up with and then hoping to not get hit by a drunk cell phone user on the way home..1

as a short person, i've used my phone to see over the crowds1 -
Everyone films at concerts now, especially outdoor festivals. I appreciate when someone uploads a live version of a song I like on YouTube.
However, the majority of people are recording garbage. What's the point of having a :37 second clip on your sorry *kitten* phone? Are you really gonna enjoy that later on? And don't even think about uploading that time-wasting trash onto a social media platform---- AHHHHH, you actually did it.2 -
Yeah -they want to have fun with their phone-- I want to have phone free environ-- I am the loser-- I guess. Thanks to those posts who understand. I did move up to the balcony- to dance around a bit. I still had a great time with the hubby. But, the phone thing just makes me ballistic. Trying (in vain probably) to start a movement.... Facebook sucks! Facebook sucks! Anyone?3

Oh I have WAY better chill pills than those1 -
I'm going to the concert of my dreams tomorrow and you better believe I am going to record it no matter how *kitten* the quality may be and I'm going to enjoy watching it later for years to come. I don't hold my phone up,I'm not going to be on social media and my brightness will be down but I am going to record it. I don't see how that should hinder anyone else's fun and I would be more worried about the concert than what other people are doing.0

Usually I see people taking video for snap chat and instagram. I took a few quick videos at a recent concert, but I kept it short cuz I wanted to enjoy the concert and not infringe on any type of copyright.1

I vividly remember that any attempt to film or record a concert was commonly prohibited. I suppose now with the phones that do everything except brew coffee, it's impossible to police such things anymore...
I remember that too. I'm half and half on the subject. Wrestling does watch for video taking and kick people out for doing it...1 -
Maybe they're like Drew Barrymore from 50 First Dates and they can't remember anything the next day, so they have to record it all.
Besides, who needs actual memories when you have a shaky, poorly-lit, tinny-sounding video that you can watch on a four-inch screen???4 -
Old people problems?

Ya, I don't think FB is the problem....the problem is people's addiction to their phones, me thinks...1
