At day 5 of cutting out all refined sugar from my diet. I've been suffering terrible pmt and I'm really fed up with craving sugar and chocolate. It feels like a constant battle so I'm now cutting out all refined sugar to see if I can bring my addiction to an end and get a life. I've had a hypnotherapy session to help me beat this and it seems to be going well so far. The withdrawal symptoms aren't too bad atm. Lets see what happens in a week.

You may need to increase your salt intake depending on how much you cut sugars and carbs. Carbs/sugar causes water retention so when you cut them, water weight is lost and that causes a loss of electrolytes too. Mainly sodium. If you have cut usgars enough for your carbs to be under 150g, or if it was just a large cut, you may need to supplement with 3000-5000 mg of sodium to prevent an electrolyte imbalance. If you get headaches, fatigue, brain fog, muscle aches or spasms, you know your electrolytes are out of whack.

Besides that, I hope you have great results from cutting sugar, whether it is health improvements or just freedom from sugar cravings.

Did you try eating more fruit? Yesterday I was feeling horrible, tired hungry and cranky (lack of sleep does that), then I ate an apple and it was like a choir of angels has descended upon me. Made some sweet potatoes when I got home, spent the rest of the evening in bliss.

So there are two sides to this and depending on your personality will determine with path you should take. You can do what @nvmomketo suggest or you can incoporate a small portion of chocolate into your diet. I have found that if occasionally take 10-15% of my calories and a lot them for a treat, I am at a much greater success level for staying in a calorie deficit. But this is only after I address my other nutritional requirements (i concentrate on calories first and then protein and highly focus on a very nutritious diet).
