Anyone else besides me eat whatever the heck they want and just use portion control??

Yes. It worked for me. I count the calories and even go over the recommendation by this app sometimes and I still lost weight. I had a blog trying to get into details about it, but it seemed to have confused people or some are in disbelief that I lost weight doing it.5

How I do it. Much easier for me and so far the results have been to my liking. At the end if the day as long as I took in less than my recommended daily calorie intake I'm happy3

The reason I do it is because my wife cooks meals and it's the same for everyone at the table. I refuse to be rude and push away her yummy meatloaf and deep fried French fries, lol, so I just eat a measures portion, count the calories, and thank her for dedication in preparing a meal for the family.31

I can eat whatever I want, but certainly not always as much as I would want.
There are times I have to think whether a food is worth it, though. For example, cookies are tasty but not very filling, so if I eat some, I will be hungrier later. Sometimes I make that choice. Other times I choose something different.9 -
Everyone and their mama eats whatever they want with portion control. Luckily, I -want- all the food I eat on a ketogenic diet, so I know you're speaking burgers and pizza but, in my own way, I am having burgers and pizza too, just with different ingredients.7

Yeah, that's what I always do. It's called the IIFYM Diet [If It Fits Your Macros]. Basically eat what you want, but keep portions under control so you don't go over on calories or macros.2

Yup, I still eat the foods I love so long as I log it and have the calories for it. I have gone over here and there, but no big deal. I log it and move on. I burn close to 3000 calories a day anyway so my overage is usually 200-300 calories.0

It depends on what you normally eat. If you eat only junk you may not end up looking like you want. I would say you want to be healthier overall I suspect not just weight less. Sometimes learning to eat healthier can make a big difference. You body needs certain nutrients e.g. vegetables, fruits, etc. Since I started eating healthier, I eat a lot more total, but the same calories, so more of a lifestyle change.2

But fortunately, I suppose, I really like veggies and fruit and brown rice and cottage cheese and low cal yogurt (prefer it to the thicker yogurts) and whole grain breads and chicken and tuna ... etc. etc. etc. That's the food I grew up on (for the most part) and have eaten most of my adult life.
Of course, I also like Mexican food (mmmm ... burritos!) and pizza and ice cream ... so I still have them, but in moderation.

Yes! Only thing that works for me. If I cut any "bad" foods out I wouldnt last too long. I still try to eat healthy though, sometimes. But I'm human and crave junk food so I eat it in moderation2

I did. It works just fine if you budget your calories. I try to eat healthy now for reasons.0

Mostly. I definitely still eat candy and cookies on a daily basis. But I have protein goals I try to meet so I often eat Greek yogurt or special k protein cereal when I'd rather be eating lucky charms. I don't limit carbs or sugar though, I eat what I want there as long as I'm getting my protein goal met.1

Nope, because what I want to eat, what I really really want to eat, is usually beyond my budget if I were to eat it on a daily basis. ^^0

No. Eating whatever I wanted was the problem. I needed to cut a few foods in order to get healthy. Some of the foods that I wanted did not agree with me.2

I do, but beers with the guys on Friday tends to put me over for the day. So I try to budget it, workout a little harder that day, and try to keep it under my maintenance calories.0

Yup! I had a 2 cocktails this week, pizza, lasagna, half of a cupcake, and I still lost 2 pounds.
Of course I had to run a few extra miles, and ate a LOT more baby spinach than usual to offset the more delicious food.
It works for me, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. I'm at a stage where I can cut myself off from food and walk away.0 -
i couldn't do it any other way. the way i ate to lose weight had to be the same quality and type of food that i would eat to maintain my weight loss.
so far so good....maintaining 140 pound weight loss for almost 6 months (and i just ate two peanut butter chocolate chip cookies warm out of the oven)1 -
I eat whatever I want, but there are some things I have decided not to include anymore only because I dont do tiny portions and find theyre not worth the calories. Such as full fat hard cheese, cream, anything deep fried in batter and real butter, pastry.Luckily iv not got a sweet tooth.0

Yes, because if I am not willing to give up a food forever, then I was not going to give it up for weight loss. So I eat one measured serving of ice cream, not a pint at a time. I eat fried foods less often. And I did decide I could never eat refried beans again and eat black beans instead. I do me. :-)1

Yes. Because part of being HEALTHY is being happy. I'd never want to have regret or unhappiness because a certain food was deemed as taboo.

Count me in - I've had home made pizza and lasagna this week, going out for dinner tonight (I have eaten at this place many times and know the calorie counts and portion sizes) and even fit in a bowl of cracker chips every single night with my cup of tea. Down 98lbs. Its a dream come true2

I do for the most part, but recently discovered that I still binge on something I hadn't had in a long time - damn Combos. Ate the whole bag.1

Not in all aspects. I can't eat just half a donut so I just don't eat one at all. But I can eat a portion of homemade pizza, Alfredo, whole some meals without going overboard. Somethings I know to avoid because they aren't worth the heavy calories and lack of nutrition.1

I wish I could, but if I ate what I wanted within my calories I'd just be hungry all the time. I don't think it really works for people who mostly like sweet stuff, lol.
But yes, I make meals that I actually like and often base them on my cravings (other than sweets, obviously).1
