Wild and Crazy Dreams. Also, Are They Often Meaningful to You?

Do you wake up sometimes wondering where your dreams come from? How did you think that one up? Do you sometimes ponder your dreams and what they mean to you? Have you ever clearly figured the meaning out? Have you had occasional dreams that were so meaningful that while you did not know what they meant at the time, you figured them out years later? Have you had the same dream, more than once? Have you had a dream while sleeping that later came true? Have you ever awakened yourself, laughing out loud?

I find my dreams to be entertaining -- even the ones that would be considered disturbing by some. I love waking, to mull over a dream from the night before.

Please write about your dreams, what they mean to you, etc.

I woke one morning to find my children, while little, standing over me, laughing. Why? They thought it was funny that I was laughing while asleep!

As a child, I often dreamt that I was forced to drive on a narrow, mountainous highway, with steep sides, in a Model T. It was always scary. I didn't realize until decades later that the dream was about my feeling that I had no control over scary situations in my life that I saw as archaic.

One of my favorite dreams as an adult was very short, and I awoke, laughing from this one, too. I looked out my front door to see Yosemite Sam, with that funny walk of his, walking up our front walk toward our door, and he was a Ginsu Knife salesman. No, the TV wasn't on; no, I didn't watch comics, and no, I've never owned a Ginsu knife!

Another favorite, long dream was that I had gone down into the rabbit hole. I was walking along a path, through tall trees and cabins, carrying an emaciated, crippled child on my back, who clung so tightly to me that she was hurting me with her bony fingers. People were watching me and whispering to one another. I carried her to the bottom of the rabbit hole, pulled her with great effort off my back, and thrust her on the ground in front of a 3 foot tall monument that looked like a tiny Washington Monument. She screamed, flailed, and tried to draw attention, holding out her bony arms to me, but I turned and determinedly walked away, through the crowds of people who tried to make me go back and get her, up the road through the trees and cabins, and out of the rabbit hole, into the sunshine. :)

I am only able to remember a dream, that wakes me or I awaken suddenly from, for an hour & that's it. It isn't possible for me to reflect upon it, after that & I've never written them down or tried to explain them because trying to remember, actually makes me forget it sooner.

My Mother however has a recurring dream of walking up the stairs, to heaven but then turns around & begins walking down them. She interprets this, as being meant to die (if she reaches the top) & not meant to die (if she turns around).

Thank you, Friday! I've learned that we all individually interpret our own dreams best and that others cannot interpret them, because they don't have our experiences, our thoughts.

I have crazy crazy dreams all too often.
I usually can remember most of the dream, and some I wish I couldn't remember lol

I regularly have lucid dreams where I am aware I'm dreaming they are pretty cool

Or I sometimes am trying to wake up and open my eyes but I can't no matter how hard I try, and that sense of desperation and dread washes over me

Coolest dream iv had was when I could fly lol or dreaming of times past when my family was all together and happy.

Worst dreams are when I have nightmares about my parents.....had another one last night was horrible

And I had a very cool dream one time, I was in the throws of a major depression/stressed out af and suffering badly at the time and considering suicide for the first time. I went to bed that night thinking of ending my life and just before I woke the next morning I had the most amazing dream of a dolphin leaping out of the water, I could see every detail on the dolphin and the water it was beautiful and it put the first smile on my face for a very long time. I think that dream may have just pulled me through, gave me some hope and something to smile about. So I think dreams can be pretty awesome

I often have weirs dreams. When in worked in an office tower I'd have dreams the elevators were doing world things. I didn't like the elevators so that made sense. after we'd visit my grandmother who was mean and spiteful I'd dream i was yelling at her, clearly getting out those emotions felt.

As a kid I would dream of people coming out of the walls with a giant snake in our basement and I also had this one of some person wanting to abduct children from the school but I hid one day and managed to catch him and have him arrested.

My most interesting was when I dreamt about my mom's dad who died when she was a child, I was watching him walk to work knowing that he was on his way to his death, he had a massive heart attack at work on day. I was torn though because if I saved him then I'd never get to know my mom's step dad. I'd never seem pictures of my mom's dad but I described him to a T and it was so incredibly vivid i wanted to go back to sleep and continue the dream so I coukd hang out with my grandfather I never knew. So bizarre

I have three recurring dreams that really leave me feeling discombobulated...

    1. In the car with hubby driving...suddenly he's not driving or steering, and he screams for me to hit the brakes and grab the wheel, but my legs are too short to reach the brake pedal from the passenger side....the whole dream is me frantically trying to reach the brakes.

    2. I have a little ladybug on the tip of my finger...the whole dream, this little ladybug is about to fall off my finger, and I'm devastated, panicking trying to save it...I wake up crying from this every time.

    3. I'm back in highschool...but I can't find my locker....the bell rings, and I'm racing thru the school, trying desperately to find the *kitten* locker.....sometimes I find it, but I can't remember the code to get it open!!

Me thinks a shrink would have a hayday with my dreams...lol

Lately I dream a lot about doing chores. Last night there were holes in my floor and I was picking up laundry and toys out of the floorboards.

It's downright depressing, like I can't even dream about something fun lol. :(

I don't remember my dreams often enough. I love dreams, good or bad: they are entertaining! And they often tell me things I won't face during my waking hours. My dreams are more honest than I am.

I used to be in a cult. Lots of my instructive dreams were about the cult -- about the dangers, about escaping, etc. For myself, when I pay attention to my dreams, most of them are instructive and very helpful.

Is it fairly easy for you to figure out what your dreams mean to you?

I don't remember my dreams too often but the re occurring ones seem to come true.
A few years ago for almost a week straight I dreamt of either car accidents or trouble. To the point I got freaked out and checked my insurance to make sure it was still good.. Got it serviced to make sure nothing was wrong with it.. Then a week and a half later I got T boned going through a light.

If I dream about someone I haven't seen in a while it's highly likely are I'm going to run into them or hear from them in the very near future... Weird stuff.

I love reading about others dreams. It is really something that interests me.
@GnothiSeauton23 would like this thread too.

My mum used to call me "the dreamer" because I was constantly telling her about dreams I'd had or if not I was constantly daydreaming.
I've always had vivid dreams and would say I dream and remember around 4-5 times a week, even went to a sleep specialist at one point and they recorded my brain activity while sleeping. Apparently I have a very active brain.

Unfortunately my dreams often reflect my fears, which makes for sleep I sometimes do not want though sometimes you get those nice sensual dreams.

I often have reoccurring dreams, some I've has since childhood.
Something else that weirds me out is that I often know I'm dreaming in a dream, and can sometimes control and change what happens in them. I remember one where my brother died, which I woke from, then went back to sleep and changed it.

    Look up Lucid dreaming. :)

My mum and I often have lucid dreaming, also.

    Also had precognitive dreams.

I love sleeping mostly due to looking forward to my dreams, be they scary, fantastical, sensual or just downright bizarre lol!

I have dreams often containing people I don't even know which is odd. Try eating a Rosemary seasoned dinner one night and see if you have wilder dreams

When we dream, we are often processing stuff that happened to us during the day that we didnt have time to deal with then. Its called "day residue". Most dreams are a way of working out conflicts, or problems or anxieties, through allegorical means - a rose is never a rose in a dream (well, most of the time it isnt..). You can train yourself to remember your dreams, by keeping a book and a pen next to the bed and writing down as much as you can remember when you wake up from one. There is no truth to the rumour that you should not waken a sleepwalker -they wont die. Everyone dreams, and every night, we just dont remember them. Depriving someone of dream (or REM) sleep can have serious psychological and physical side effects.

Oh, I'd forgotten about sleep walking! My son used to do that! One morning, he walked into the kitchen and started to use the trash can for a toilet! Fortunately, my daughter realized he was asleep.

One day, my daughter, walked into the dining room, verbally ripped me to shreds, then went back to her bedroom. My new husband was livid and didn't understand why I didn't do anything about it. A few minutes later, she woke up. When I asked her why she had treated me so disrespectfully, she was really hurt and informed me that she would not even thinkn of talking to me that way. Yep! She was sleepwalking!
