Staying motivated-only 4lbs to go!

Can someone say something to me that will stick please? My deadline was October to get down to my target weight but as I'm so close already I keep thinking I can afford to not work as hard and ease off a bit. But I don't want to derail...help! Can I get some motivational words please???

If you feel good and feel that you look good...why worry about a number?

I don't have a ton of words for you besides the typical keep it up! You've come this far, don't stop now! You set the goal, now stick to it!

However, I can tell you the tools I use for motivation: I have a picture of an empty jar on my fridge-for each pound lost, I put a star in it, so the jar will eventually be brimming. (The jar stays on the side of the fridge-not on the front-it's not there to "guilt" me out of eating.) You could use a system like 4 big check boxes on a paper you get to check off with each pound lost. Obviously I'm a visual person and like to see things on paper and that might not work for you. Also maybe break the 4 pounds down into mini goals (2 pounds each or 1 pound each) and then reward yourself with a non food related item when you reach the next goal.

Also are you still logging EVERY thing you put in your mouth? Still weighing food, still exercising? Get back to what you were doing that caused you to get to only 4 pounds from your goal!

You are only 4 pounds away, think how awesome you will feel to be able to say "I lost ___ pounds!"

    Good luck! Stay strong!

I've got 3lbs to go and ideally I would like to lose it before I start school in the fall, but what keeps playing through my head is "finish what you started." It definitely keeps me in check and stops me from thinking it's "good enough." Don't just be 'good enough', be exceptional and follow through with your goals. It's not about the number, it's about the success of achieving something you worked so long and hard for, don't stop short! :)

A quote that I stand by simple states, "Exceptional people don't quit." Are you ordinary?

Also, my goal initially was to get healthy and look fit. Since that's STILL my end goal (over 70 lbs loss by the way), I will forever be working at it. I can't taper off because I'll never reach my goal.

I am in a similar position. I only have 1.5 kg to go to goal. I also am due to go on a holiday next month. I want to go on that holiday at goal! It motivates to no end I do admit.

If you are that close try to pull your deadline forward so you can have am month of maintenance trailling?

Thanks all! I am back on the wagon and going at it with 100% of what I have again..1lb down, these last 3 WILL NOT beat me! I go on holiday on Friday, in 4 days and I'm gone for 10 days so back on 24th. I've given myself a target of losing another 1lb by 28th. ( I know I might mess up on holiday so setting this will hopefully keep me motivated but not too pressured). Then it'll only be 2lbs to go and surely I can do that right? Thanks again MFP gang
