I've been lifting weights for 3 months. I have a Omron body fat scale. I know they are not the end all be all of accuracy. I've been eating at a very small deficit. My weight it's up but my body fat % went down which is good but it also said my muscle went down too. I thought it would stay same or increase with lifting. Any thoughts ?

Your small deficit isn't a actually deficit if your weight has gone up!

I had some Omron scales which compared very well with 6 monthly BodPod scans but only as regards the trend - the actual data points varied quite a bit. What size of change are you seeing on the scales?

Are you taking progress photos or measurements to give you other metrics?

What does "lifting" actually mean - what is your training plan? Getting stronger?
If you aren't progressing then maybe your training needs tweaking.

Photos seem same to me. I only measured my waist. One week it's down and next week it's same as before. I use a Fitbit to gauge my tdee and eat under everyday.

Lift has been 2 days upper and 2 days lower. I've gotten heavier every month but nothing big. 45lb clean and press and bent over rows, 20lb Dumbbells presses, started 70 lbs deadlift up to 125. Body weight squats, 30lb step ups. Some other dumbbell stuff. I work out from home so I have to buy more weights as I go.

If you are getting heavier your fitbit is overestimating your TDEE or your food logging is off. Your body weight is the true gauge of your deficit or surplus.

Making strength progress will lead to muscle growth but it's a slow process.
