Feeling frustrated that I am not losing looking for advice...

OK so I have been really struggling lately. I do great all week watch my calories work out 3-4 times doing cardio just to screw everything up on the weekends (meaning I have a few beers to relax and eat more then I should). I haven't actually lost weight in the last 6 months because of one reason or another. For awhile I was self sabotaging by not eating enough and then burning to many calories and my body was trying to compensate. I wasn't meaning to do that I just found I wasn't hungry. Now I am on a good eating and working out schedule/balance but I am still not losing which is extremely frustrating. Not sure where I am going wrong or how to fix it. Looking for anyone who has been in a similar situation to offer any advice they may have. I want to lose at least 20 more pounds to get to my goal weight.

Your problem in the past sounds like consistency. When you're consistent results will happen. So just make sure you follow a doable program and COMMIT to it.

How long have you been on the balanced schedule? Like NINERBUFF said, consistency is huge. I like the saying "5 + 2 = 0" meaning, 5 healthy "good" days plus 2 bad weekend days equals no change. I was the same way (and still am, far too often!) where I can be on track for 2-4 weeks, then have a bad crash than undoes most of my work in 2 -3 days.

Other things to look at could be "non-scale victories" (NSVs) -- maybe you're not losing weight on the scale, but are having other changes like gaining muscle, more energy, clearer skin, drop a belt size, clothes fit better, changes in measurements, etc. Sometimes our weight doesn't change but body composition is still shifting. Are you tracking other things like that?

It's also good to have realistic expectations - and maybe you do, so don't mind me if I'm saying something you already know :) But a lot of people want to see the scale dropping down every day. But it's standard to lose maybe just 1/2 to 1 pound per week. You can lose more (typically 1% of your body weight per week, so if you weight 150 lbs, then 1.5 lbs/week would be the most you'd expect after the initial few weeks) but this can be harder to maintain because it requires stricter cuts in calories and/or more exercise.

There can be other factors too - metabolism, salt and water retention, hormones, "cheats" that you "forget" to count that add up, estimating serving sizes incorrectly so actually eating more than you think you are, etc.

Hang in the there and "trust to process"! But if you feel even THAT is still not working after 4 weeks, it's definitely good to dig deeper and see what else may be going on. Feel free to Friend/Contact me if you have more questions or if I can help more in any way! :) Or if you just want an accountability buddy! Weight loss is very hard for me as well
