Thrive, Shakeology, Quest Protein Shakes and Bars - What do you do?

Does anyone use Thrive or Shakeology? I've been using Quest protein shakes and bars. I've been told that with Thrive and Shakeology that you get energy. That is what I'm looking for! Yes, I need to lose weight (hence the use of the quest), but I am desperate to increase my energy level! Does Thrive or Shakeology help with this?? Thanks!!

I buy a protein powder at Walmart, drink coffee, take vitamins and eat regular food. Probably costs pennies on the dollar over that MLM stuff.12

Yeah, that. You (OP) say you're using Quest because you need to lose weight. That's not what it does. It's simply a protein supplement. It does nothing for weight loss.8 -
You can do a lot better with cheaper sources of protein.
Honestly though, I've got a huge energy boost from increasing my exercise consistently and getting smaller. It takes a while, but it's amazing. I used to be sedentary and now I have a hard time sitting still.8 -

Have you been told that by people who don't sell them or aren't currently buying them? A friend is selling thrive and frankly their supplements look a lot like zip fizz, which one can get at costco.
I eat food. I keep quest bars on hand for "emergencies" (I work on call sometimes).
I have protein powder from costco, but rarely use it. It's not really my thing.
I get my energy from food, by and large.5 -

You're not going to get any significant benefit from Thrive or Shakeology that you can't otherwise get from a cheaper product.
The main difference is that Thrive and Shakeology are MLM businesses and so consequently the marketing is usually very aggressive.
Stick to Quest and if you're having energy issues you should look at things like sleep, training, anxiety, and the overall diet as a whole.11 -
I eat "normal" food. You lose weight through a sustained calorie deficit. Calories is energy, and caffeine can perhaps make you feel more awake/alert, exercise can have the same effect, as can getting good sleep and rest, and an overall good diet. Scammy supplements is not going to make a difference.5
-
I don't use any of those things. My energy comes from being sufficiently rested, and coffee :-)
Also, quest isn't a magic bullet to weight loss. Protein can definitely help, but CI<CO is the fundamental part of weight loss.4 -
Eating the right food will give you energy, working out will give you energy. You don't need expensive MLM products. Don't fall for that crap. You lose weight from a calorie deficit. Calories in vs calories out.3

Cheaper Quest bar alternative: https://www.amazon.com/Protein-Kirkland-Signature-delicious-variety/dp/B01GSL9KAU/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1465708945&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=Kirkland+Signature™+Protein+Bar.
I was loyal Quest fan for a while and I still like their products, but the cost was getting to me.4 -

You get energy from those the same way you get "energy" from an energy drink. Caffeine. A 15 oz can of Monster has 161 mg of caffeine, a can of Pepsi Max has 69mg. An 8 oz cup of coffee has 91 mg.
Now, when Shakeology came out with their Cafe Latte flavor, they said their caffeine comes from green tea, and that it contains 75% less caffeine than a cup of coffee, making it about 22mg of caffeine per serving, same as all their other flavors. Not a whole lot of "energy."
If you've just started, it's not uncommon to feel a little tired. Losing weight in general helps with energy levels, and as you increase your activity levels, you'll probably find you have more energy. Give it some time.2 -
I make a coffee smoothie with quest powder in the morning. 1/2 scoop Quest, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 cup cold coffee, 4 ice cubes, 1/2 tsp zanthan gum, and 1tsp ground chia seeds blended well. If you want it to be more of a meal, use a whole scoop and whole banana.1

I tried the kirkland one. Too sweet for me, and not the flavors I'd choose. But the nutrition profile is comparable for much less money, definitely.1 -
I absolutely do not recommend any type of product sold by a multilevel marketing company. The products often contain unsafe ingredients and are nutritionally unsound, and you pay twice what they are worth. You can get a good quality protein product at the store or at reputable online stores for much less money.2

MCGRAD2003 ~ check the site out and if you have any questions please ask. https://thrivecompanylv.le-vel.com/Experience. I would love to help, my name is Heather, my husband and I take it. He has for about 9 months, works outside all day and loves the energy and I have since March of 2015. I feel so much better because of it. I haven't even tried to sell it so do not feel I am selling you, but since you asked her I thought to tell you I use it and I love it. This round I am using it more for weight loss. I started taking it for reasons other than weight loss last year. I had some health issues before that it helped me with now it assists with getting my butt to the gym on the regular. It provides more benefits than just weight loss, depends on you and your goals. My name is Heather and I am not a producer I just know it works for me for the energy and joint support and sleep benefits of it, check it out.-6

I have drank Shakeology and I don't feel like I have any more energy than I do when I have a cup of coffee. It mostly gives you more vitamins. Maybe that's just me cause most of my friends swear by it.2

OP, this heather person is the reason not to buy into thrive or shakeology, they are here to make money off of you, and are willing to make up stories about how it gave them all of this energy, healed their whole body inside in out because of some sort of ancient Chinese secret doctors aren't privy too. You shouldn't be using quest or any of these products to lose weight, you should be using them to supplement your diet when you are having trouble getting certain nutrients you need from your food. You should be losing weight from you having less calories than you burn, and if supplementing with a protein shake is the way you can do that, then that's great, but don't spend hundreds of dollars a month, because you somebody who is healthy, and in shape says they get energy from a shake instead of the whole foods they are eating, and their workouts they are doing.7

also I just realize mcgrad and hbg are probably the same person, and mcgrad created this account to ask a question about thrive, and then created the hbg post to give great insightful answers, and get her link out there to everyone.7

This thread alone should tell you all you need to know about MLM products like Thrive and Shakeology. Think about this. If I come here asking opinions about a protein drink like maybe EAS Whey singles, I get a few responses and maybe a couple who tried it. If I ask about an MLM product, suddenly a salesperson shows up trying to sell it to you. You already got 2 sales pitches in this one thread...4

I said links.
It goes to thrive. There are two links there on that main page for buying. One to order "start the experience", one to a promoter named Amy Pulte, "promote the experience".
Perhaps MFP needs a sticky, or comment in the T&C about MLMs, shake sales etc. since it appears the tide has turned here? Something just telling us what MFP's stance on these products is now. I presume it would be easier for folks to follow the rules, and or choose another community. cheers

The same page comes up if I find the page via a Google search for Thrive. That exact page pops up as the top hit, and when I clicked promoter, a different name popped up; it appears to be generated by system, probably by geographical location.
Pretty much every product information page on the site by the product's manufacturer is going to have a link to purchase the product, and most have information about how to become an affiliate or rep if the company offers that option. Bodybuilding.com sells products and has an affiliate program, both easily accessible on the site, and people still link to articles and information on there.
I already gave my viewpoint in response to the OP's question, but the OP did ask if anyone used the products, in which case people who use the products are allowed to offer their viewpoint as well. I may disagree with that viewpoint, but I don't feel that disagreeing means spreading misinformation.1 -

I won't disagree with mods. Having been a mod of a large forum, I know you're in the know and I am not. Cheers and have a good Monday.1 -

Especially if you buy them from Costco rather than Amazon. The amazon price is almost double.1 -
You don't need any of this stuff. You really don't have to buy special food to get healthy, lose weight, and be more energetic. Just eat a generally healthy diet and get some exercise.1
-
Thank you all for your input/advice! The reason that I mentioned using Quest to lose weight is because I've swapped out lunch to have a protein shake (with almond milk) or a protein bar. This was less calories than I was eating before and has helped in providing a calorie deficit. I've seen online about Thrive and Shakeology and people claiming their energy levels increased with the products. I am just SOOOO tired all of the time! I've been to the doctor and everything with me is fine. That's why I was thinking of trying Thrive or Shakeology. I know that exercise helps, and I'm trying to get back to it.0

Hi, Sabine_Stroehm - That's why I posted on here. I was hoping to find someone who uses either of the products and doesn't sell them. When I research online, I'm sure I'm seeing only people who sell them. My mother-in-law told me about a coworker who is using Thrive and she has noticed an increase in the coworker's energy level by using Thrive. I just didn't want to go on that one observation before dropping a lot of money on this stuff. - Also, what is zip fizz?1 -

Given that you're so tired.... do you mind telling us of your height/weight/ and daily calories you're eating, as well as your exercise habits? Perhaps you're really not eating enough?0 -
I often just mix together 2 scoops whey protein and energy orange water enhancer with 16oz water, mainly for post-workout to help with recovery. The water enhancer is fairly cheap [$3 for 24 servings] and it makes the shake taste like an orange creamcicle.1

Nope - I'm a different person - Truly looking for advice. I'm really not wanting to spend a lot of money. Based on what I'm reading, I don't think either Thrive or Shakeology are going to help me.2
