If it puts you in a surplus then yes it will hurt you. If it's not and you're fine with hindering your progress then that's on you. I would rather eat more during the week and not focus on a cheat day

Depending on the size of your deficit, that would blow it for the week and then some.

I've never seen the purpose of cheat meals/days. I eat the foods I love and fit them into my goals as I can.

I think the worst thing about cheat days is that they don't help you to overcome cravings. In my experience, I had to learn to limit the bad foods, even eliminate them in order to make this a lasting change. Cheat days sabotaged my efforts at changing my food patterns.

My dad loved cheat days. Sunday was his cheat day. He found that somehow the things he was waiting for to taste so good didn't seem to fill the bill sometimes. He also felt like that he wouldn't go completely wild with it - that he wouldn't eat as much as if he would binge otherwise.

I can't have a cheat day because I would totally go crazy wild eating everything. I'll have a cheat item from time to time....but not an entire cheat day.
