Set an appropriate calorie goal - use MFP's setup; if you want to lose weight, choose a weekly weight loss goal as close to 1% of your current total body weight as possible.
Buy an electronic food scale. Use the food diary. Check each database entry for errors. Weigh everything in grams and log the correct amount. Use the recipe builder when you cook. Eat food you like. Aim to hit your calorie goal every day. Don't "cheat". Don't "forget". Don't give up.
Don't obsess - when you're eating out, just estimate portions, enjoy your meal, and don't eat until you are stuffed. Consider if you need to eat out - can you cook more at home, can you bring food?
After you've gotten into these habits, try to teach yourself "the hunger scale" (google it).0 -
Use smaller containers to store food. It makes dishes look bigger than they really are. I've found that sandwich containers work really well [they seem big but only hold 3 cups worth of food].0
