Metabolism and Alcohol?? Help

Okay, so people say that when you drink alcohol, your body stops metabolizing your food and focuses on just getting rid of the alcohol. That makes sense to me, but what I can't seem to figure out is how long you should wait after eating if you plan to have a drink. I tend to go out for drinks with friends sometimes on weekends and don't want to be working against myself if I do.

Obviously I'm still making sure I'm not drinking over my calorie limit as well.

I'm pretty new to all of this, so if any of what I said is incorrect please let me know :)

Honestly, as long as you stay within your calorie goal, I wouldn't worry too much about this. It's true that your body will still use the alcohol first, but if you're in a deficit it will all get used eventually.

Agreed. You don't really want to wait until your food is all digested before drinking anyway. The times in my life I've gotten more drunk than I wanted to be were times I went out without eating first. :smirk:
