Does low battery affect a scale?

Hey everyone,

I just got to college from my home & was using my scale I have here. When I stepped on it flashed "Low Battery" & then proceeded to show that I was apparently up 4.6lbs. I have been eating comfort foods, however I always managed to stay under weekly calorie goal by around 500-1000 calories. I only ever reached the maintain calorie goal for myself twice on a family vacation. So I am confused as to if I should take this weight to heart or take a new reading when I get a battery as the true weight.

Thank you ahead of time for any responses :-)

Yes it can absolutely affect the scale. Change the batteries!

If you have been under your calorie goal then I wouldn't stress too much about it being up 4.6 lbs. It could be due to water retention from the comfort foods you have been eating.

The low battery could affect the scale reading, but I would definitely replace the battery just to make sure.

Also, if you have a dumbbell with a known weight on it (25 lbs for example), place the weight on the scale to check if it is calibrated quickly.

It is also a different scale than you usually use.
