The "500 calorie" Deal.

Here's my question ... Do you burn just 500+ while eating a healthy [for me] 1200 calories, OR burn 500 MORE than your calorie intake?

can you clarify what you asking more? Not quite sure what you're talking about.

I think you're asking about how the 500-calorie deficit to lose a pound a week relates to a 1200-calorie daily goal?
If the 1200 calorie goal was what MFP told you when you told MFP you wanted to lose one pound a week, then the 500 calorie deficit to lose a pound a week is (theoretically*) built into your 1200 calorie goal before you do any exercise.

Also, when you say "burn 500 more than your calorie intake," do you understand that you burn calories all day long even without exercise? Are you referring to all the calories you burn, or just to exercise calories?

*I say theoretically because (1) MFP isn't supposed to give you a daily calorie goal below 1200, so if you're petite, elderly, and/or completely sedentary, it's possible MFP defaulted to 1200 even though a 500-calorie deficit would have given you a lower number and (2) many people select the wrong activity level, either because they don't understand MFP is asking about activity outside of exercise/workouts or because they're afraid if they say anything other than sedentary they will be eating too much.
