I usually stick to USDA sites when I log Frozen Edamame for my snack. From USDA. it said the sodium is 6mg in 80 gram portion and is 122 kcal, however today I check the bag of Frozen Edamame I bought and it is said....80 gram edible part = 120 kcal, with 270mg sodium..? :noway: The ingredient is 100% Edamame, no salt added.
Should I stick to the info on label when it comes to sodium them ? But then I have always think the USDA sites is more accurate....

Always side with the manufacturer .. they have processed it differently from any other manufacturer. Different brands = different calories/macros0

Not necessarily. I bought some frozen shelled edamame (cannot remember the brand, unfortunately) and the package listed half the calorie count of the other brands. There was nothing in the ingredients other than edamame, which leads to two possibilities: (i) they magically sucked the energy out of the edamame without adding anything or changing the appearance of the beans, or (ii) someone made a typo--probably wrote down the wrong serving size. Odds are it's (ii).
I have also seen some pretty baffling calorie information on foods packaged in countries such as Turkey. It's hardly surprising when you have to convert between grams and the American system. Or they would list calories but no macro information.
OP, on the issue of sodium: there was a recent report that sodium intake is not as correlated with incidence of hypertension as previously claimed. In any case, you can allay your worries about high sodium by eating more potassium-rich foods. The absolute level of sodium in your diet doesn't matter, it's the sodium-potassium balance that matters.

I know about Potassium help balance sodium out. Actually the reason I snack on Edamame is because it is potassium rich. I just confused of how much sodium Edamame has exactly. I have always though it only has 6mg 80 gram (USDA) but now I am not sure...
Anybody know how much sodium is in 100 gram or so of Edamame?0
