How much should I weight before starting strong lifts?

I'm currently 5'8 and 142lbs M. I'm slowly getting my weight up week by week. I was wondering what would be a decent weight to start at? I feel a bit too weak to start right away. I currently eat 2750 calories a day and gaining a pound a week.

You don't need to weigh a lot to start strong lifts. There are people who weight 190lbs, but can dead lift 550lbs or more. Granted the more weight you add in muscle the more you can lift down the road, but that shouldn't prevent you from building what muscle you have now. Just make sure to be safe about it so you don't hurt yourself.

There's a powerlifting weight class of 123 lbs. max for men. There is no minimum weight. Start picking up heavy stuff.

Unless you have any physical issue or illness that would contraindicate lifting, you should start now. If you can't add weight to the bar yet, lift the bar.

If the bar, 45lbs, is to heavy; use Dumbbells.
Concentrate on form first, then add weight.
