Are all carbs the same?

Calorie-wise, 10g of carbs from sugar will have the same calories as 10g of carbs from beans or 10g of carbs from whole wheat pasta or 10g of carbs from a peach (40kcal).
This is technically true. They all contain the same calories, but when those carbs are eaten a person won't consume the same calories from each because some of the fiber calories will pass through the body rather make it to the bloodstream.1 -
"Clean" eating and IIFYM are pretty much the same thing. They're just packed slightly differently. One claims to eat "clean" foods 7 days a week when in reality they usually eat non processed food within the week then loosen the reigns on the weekend and have a cheat day/meal. The other group claims to eat whatever they want, when in reality they don't eat whatever they want. Far from it. It's usually a case of them eating 80% "clean" for the day then eating whatever try please for the other 20%. So yeah, they're basically the same thing. The blame should probably be aimed towards the "clean" eaters for interpreting "eat whatever I like" as eating donuts & cookies all day. Not everything is absolute. So basically whatever's working for you, keep doing that.2
