I am trying to quit smoking, I have lost 40 pounds in 17 weeks but I am now ready to give up those nasty cancer sticks as well. Is there anyone out there that has quit after already losing weight and been able to continue losing weight along with quitting???

  • It's tough, but entirely possible. My problem is I can essentially quit smoking without even having cravings...as long as I'm eating.

One thing that I have been able to do is make 'having a smoke' almost a ritual. For instance, my daily chores have to be finished, I have to have a glass of tea (iced tea since I am a refined Southern gentleman  ), and I cannot feel rushed. Of course, this is just my thing. Everyone is different.

So don't. It's completely in your control!

I have read that people who watch their weight by tracking and exercising continue with that lifestyle and still gain weight when they quit, that's what scares me the most....

How about you cross that bridge when you get there?
Don't talk yourself out of having something because you're afraid that you might lose it.

I'm going to try hard to not put the cart before the horse lol I guess I will just watch the scale a little more and try hard to make sure I'm not gaining lol and if I find that I am, well I guess I will start 5k training alittle earlier then I planned lol

Quitting the smokes is the healthier choice of the two anyhow. If you have willpower to lose that weight than you should have willpower to quit smoking. Eat a ton of neg calorie foods if you desire to sublimate the lack of smoking with food. Track intake and you'll be good. Good luck

Yeah lol that's what I was reading a few days ago, someone ate a pickle when they needed to get past a craving since they are a negative calorie food.
