No, man. Pancakes are delicious, this one wasn't.
I want to get it more cakey, but I don't know how.0 -
Protein powder definitely has a tendency to produce very dense baked things. I have made homemade protein bars with it, but haven't had luck with desserts. If you're looking for a high-protein chocolatey dessert, you might try a black bean brownie recipe instead. Here's one from a site that specializes in healthier desserts: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2012/09/06/no-flour-black-bean-brownies/0

So no protein powder and add oil?0

@TavistockToad But lower calorie?0

Maybe you would have better luck with subbing some applesauce for fat, like this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/17678/chocolate-applesauce-cake-iii/?internalSource=hub recipe&referringContentType=search results&clickId=cardslot 2
I have not made this recipe but just to give you an idea. You could leave out the walnuts and even cut the amount of chocolate chips in half to save some more calories.0 -
I left out the protein powder and it's much better now. Thank you!
I might try out your recipes.0 -
have you tried diet coke cake?

it's not too bad actually.0 -
Oh, that sounds interesting. It says to use a cake mix tho.
The flower is giving the most calories in my recipe. Do you know any lower calorie alternative?0 -
my favorite lower calorie chocolate cake is to make this mug cake.
2tbs cocoa powder (unsweet)
1/3 cup powered sugar
1 egg.
Microwave for 45-60 seconds. Sometimes I add mini chocolate chips or peanut butter on top.0 -
^^^ you call this low calorie? cewl
lol. compared to my regular chocolate layer cake with frosting...yes. I also like it because it's fast and portion controlled...I struggle with portion control when it comes to chocolate cake. This is pretty close to my chocolate cake recipe and I make a vanilla butter cream to frost it with. It's not diet diet friendly. That mug cake is 210 calories. I can deal with that. a piece of my regular chocolate cake is double that...maybe more.
Cooking spray
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sift, then measure), plus more for dusting
2 cups hot strong coffee
1 1/2 cups natural unsweetened cocoa powder (not Dutch process)
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon baking powder
4 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
4 teaspoons vanilla extract

So you could also double down on the chocolate. Skip the cake and go for rich dark chocolate mousse. I'm happy after very little so even though it is high calorie I don't eat that much. And now I want to go home and make that. LOL! However BF just visited g-ma and we have dessert for DAYS, on top of the failed crumb cake I made. It was not a crumb cake. It was delicious vanilla cake with delicious glop baked on top.0

You could make frosting with the protein powder if you like the taste of your protein powder on its own. Or make no bake cheesecake bars.0

For a fluffier cake with lower fat and higher protein, use the eggs! Whip the egg whites to soft peaks then fold in the rest of the batter.

Protein powder isn't suppose to be good for baking, it's suppose to lose the protein.
Here's a good protein cake.
