Hi

Firstly, sorry if this query should be posted elsewhere but I am not sure where to post and I thought I'd post here for traffic
I am following Dr Moseleys The Fast Diet which involves eating at TDEE five days a week and two days a week eating 500 calories. I decided to try premium for a month as you can customise your daily calorie goal. It even says when explaining the benefits that premium membership is great for those following an intermittent fasting plan.
Yesterday was a 500 calorie day and I had already had it set that Monday's and Thursday's are my 500 calorie days.
However, when it came to "completing my diary" a message came up to say it won't allow me to complete my diary as my calories are too low! (As it does under the normal, free membership!) Why? What is the point on having the premium membership, perfect for intermittent fasting when it won't allow me to complete my diary and I'm getting a telling off for eating too few calories!! Am I missing something?

Yeah, you can't complete your diary when your calories are under 1000. It's not necessary anyway. Your food logs are saved regardless. Completing the diary only serves two purposes: it gives you a projected loss in the form of "if every day was like today", which won't give you accurate predictions anyway since you are not eating 500 calories every day, and the second purpose is to post it on your walls for your friends to see if you have that option activated. If you don't care about that, then you don't need to close your diary. If you do care about that, just leave a message on your wall for your friends telling them if they wish to check your low days they would need to use a high entry day then manually navigate to your low days.

I haven't completed my diary in over a year. It has made no difference to how the app handles my foods or any aspects of my logging.

Another workaround would be to set your budget to 1500 instead of 500 on these days, and use quick add to manually add a 1000 calorie entry every day, leaving you with a 500 calories budget. It's too fussy for my taste so I just don't complete my diary, but that's one option if you need it. I would have loved it if the ability to complete your diary was based on your average weekly intake instead of daily (that would give more accurate predictions too), but feature requests rarely make it past the forum pages.

Just don't complete your diary on your fasting days. The warning is there for people who may be fueling disordered behaviors, which you aren't. The projected loss will be off anyway since you're doing 5:2.
