cortisol and exercise

I have always struggled with stress and anxiety and always pushed my body to the max when exercising (2.5 hours per day 6x a week) but I have also always suffered from lower abdominal fat even when I was a skeleton a few months ago. Now I've got a perfect diet, rarely eat processed/fast food, drink plenty of water, eat at regular intervals and I am almost teetotal. Therefore, I can't help thinking that the 'roll' I have stems from something else - cortisol. I suffer from depression and have read that stress, as well as high intensity exercise regularly, exacerbates cortisol release. I have also noticed that when I am under particularly bad bouts of stress and symptoms of overtraining the 'roll' appears to get bigger and when I feel a bit better on myself it seems to get smaller (but could this just be my mind playing tricks?). Can anyone shed any light possibly on cortisol and whether I am barking up the right tree so to speak? I have done research and a lot of what I experience and do joins up. I've included a few pics just so you know what I am on about

Genetics. Cortisol isn't bad, just over production of it. Cortisol is excreted when you exercise. It also does with stress and chronic stress keeps it going.
But where you gain/keep fat the most is based on genetics.

Yep, looks like it. Unfortunately, people will hold fat in place that are very hard to get rid of. Some in the lower back region, some on legs, some underneath their chests, some on the back of their arms, etc. even if they are at low body fat %. Yours just happens to be right at your waist.
