Tracking steps/calories burnt accurately

Sorry again if this has been asked before, still trying to get to grips with my Fitbit HR, today I learnt how to sync it with MFP to update my exercise via my steps taken, but not sure it was a good idea because it's saying I've burnt off above and beyond my calorie limit for the day, but obviously not going to trust that just yet as it seems quite a lot, it would be amazing if I were burning that much but how would I know if it's not just overestimating my steps through just arm movements at work as I have quite an active job.
