Weight gain after starting workout program?

Hey everyone. I'm just a little curious with what's going on. I recently started doing the beach body insanity workout program. I only did two days because I believe I have sciatica, or symptoms related to sciatica. It's just super hard for me to do squats and things like that. But anyways, that's not the problem. The problem is that I haven't lost weight in 4 days (I understand that isn't a big deal), but I'm actually gaining weight. Again, I understand that weight loss isn't linear, but what could be the cause of this? Since I started doing the workout program, my legs and thighs are ridiculously sore. Could that be a cause for the weight gain; such as retaining water and inflammation, which is why they are sore?
It's just discourages me when I do an insane workout and walk 4 miles a day and go swimming, and I gain weight.
Oh, I'm a 22 year old male who's 6'4" and 290 pounds.

Completely normal. Typically, when adding or changing an exercise program/routine, one's body retains extra water for a while (usually only about a week or so, although it could be longer) to help repair muscles.3

I'm 5'5, aged 54 and eat 1505 cals, 65g fat, 140 carbs & 90g protein as recommended by my nutritionist at the gym. Have deliberately concentrated on protein, so have eaten in excess of 100g most days for last couple of weeks, but have otherwise stuck to the plan. Upped water intake the last couple of weeks to help keep things moving....a big deal for me. Also exercise for an hour 3-4 times a week at the gym, either in a supervised class or with a personal trainer. Was slowly losing, but suddenly have gained over 3lb in 3 days (I weigh daily, but calculate weekly loss/gain).....can certainly understand how people get frustrated. Would also appreciate some advice. TIA x0

My scale shot up seven pounds when I started lifting weights again last fall, and it did take a few weeks for that water weight to come back off.0
