I would caution against trying to do it for more than a couple of weeks. It's low carb low fat so the calories end up being too low. It's even based on what is called "protein sparing modified fast". The keyword is "fast", something you don't do for prolonged periods. The insufficient calories and fat would cause problems long term. If you want to go low carb why not go low carb high fat instead?

I have done it for the last 5 weeks. It is actually seems pretty healthy after the attack phase. I lost 9 lbs in the first 2 weeks but then nothing after that. Thyroid a little off so that is the only thing that has moved the scale at all lately.

I lost like 7 pounds over the course of 2 months doing the dukan. Then I regained it and in subsequent attempts my body rebelled and I would gain/not lose even if I avoided dairy. I don't think it is a very good diet. I felt completely deprived the whole time and was constantly exhausted. I lost the same amount in a shorter time just eating a balanced diet with a decent but reasonable calorie deficit. But maybe it works for some people better than it did me.

I tried to do Dukan also, I followed to a tee for almost two months. At first, it was great for the lbs falling off, I lost a little over 11lbs in the attack phase. After that, I had no energy and was dizzy a lot. I would go to work out and my stamina declined a lot.
I now just try to make healthy food choices, at least this way I can get a good hour of hard core exercise in compared to the daily 30 minute walk Dukan says is mandatory in the diet, and was brutal to get through with no energy. I also got stomach pain from the lack of veggies I was getting. I did not like this diet at all, and would not recommend it for long term. It took awhile for my body to shift back to normal also by the way and caused me to plateau on my weight loss.

Dukan lost his certification to practice as a doctor after getting caught prescribing medications which were not intended for weight loss (but had that as a side effect) to multiple patients. It makes me wonder how much faith he had in his own diet.
