Can you be thinner than the weight you have lost?

Unusual question - I don't mean where you lose fat and build muscle so weight drops very little but your measurements do. I am meaning after an illness. I was sick for a week and within that had 5 days of being able to eat only a piece of toast each day. I have been good as gold for 2.5 weeks now, eating well and back into exercise (swam 13.5km last week) but am concerned that I seem to have lost condition.

My weight is back up to around where it was pre illness but I seem to look thinner and clothes are still looser despite the weight being back and feeling healthy with good appetite etc.

I am thinking of making a visit to a good local nutritionist so I can get my condition back and make sure I put on some muscle and not just gain body fat but I am surprised I haven't bounced back into shape yet.

That IS odd. I'd say visiting a nutritionist and trying to build back some muscle are your best bets.

You lost the weight and it gained back in different places. Keep swimming, you'll get your muscle back. (I'm a swimmer too)
