It hurts!

I started Power 90 today and my body is on fire! I'm not in horrible shape, but I am hurting in areas where I didn't even know muscles existed I don't hurt like this when I go out for a jog. How long does it typically take for the pain to go away after you get more into the routine? And what do you recommend to prepare my muscles beforehand and help them to recover afterwards?

When I shred my workout hard lifting, I can hurt for up to 3-4 days, until I am used to the routine....then it means i need to change it up. Sore means you did a good job. When I first started, it sometimes took a week. Workout tomorrow, you will find that getting moving again will help.0

Congrats on committing to a fitness program. Sorry to hear about your soreness, but as Lady Bane said, over time your body gets really good at recovery. Somethings that may help a little in either minimizing the soreness or expediting it: Good hydration, before, during, and after. Some post-workout stretching and self-massage. Hot shower/bath. And believe it or not, but light exercise. If you're sore the next day, try to do some walking (gradually increasing in tempo and/or intensity). It might be a temporary thing and the soreness may come back when you're done, but it will likely be diminished.
Hope this is of some help! Don't get discouraged. You'll work through this and then the soreness will become stiffness, and then will become a rarity. And it'll be worth having endured the initial discomfort. Good luck!0 -
This is a good thing. The pain means you are going to see progress Stretch and make sure you drink enough water. Maybe some Tylenol if its really bad.0
