Need Some Exercises For Dad

Hi MFP, I need some help for effective exercises for my dad. He is 50 years old and has a bad back and an unhealthy heart. I want to change his life to get him healthier and he is willing too. I need some exercises that are effective and beneficial. He just can't do any jumping exercises because of his back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    walking. I turn 50 next month. When I started in early 2012 I walked with a cane, used a handicap parking sticker and did not have a lot of energy. I started walking and am still walking today. I have thrown in some strength training as well but walking each day and watching what I eat has helped me lose 70 pounds, get stronger and incredibly reduced a lot of the pain I was in. I had terrible arthritis and could hardly even walk when I got out of bed in the morning. Now I have aches and pains but not the severe pain I had.

    Not a bad back but I have bad legs, 13 operations, joint replacements and replacement revisions etc. His mileage may vary but it is the really allowed me to get healther.

    As soon as "unhealthy heart" enters the equation it's time to have this conversation with his doctor - a much better source of information than some anonymous folks on the internet
