Maintenance calories of weight goal as a diet?

Does anyone here ever calculated the calories maintenance amount of their weight goal and ate at that level for a while? Theoretically the body-weight will go to that level but it would take forever and ever as the deficit will get smaller and smaller.. Seems illogical.. Maybe it will go faster then that? Anyone got a theory?

In theory, it would work. Depending on how much the person has to lose, you would have to be incredibly precise, which we all know is a goal but impossible to 100% achieve. However, people have been successful using this method before around here.2

It actually makes perfect sense. A steadily reducing deficit to preserve muscle mass as you get leaner and no transition from dieting to maintenance.
Read the book "The Lean Muscle Diet" by Lou Schuler & Alan Aragon if interested in the subject.
If I had read the book before I lost my excess weight I would have tried it....
Remember that lack of precision in your goal calories can work either way, you are as likely to under estimate as you are over estimate.3
