Hi guys ! So I really want to invest in a good fitness watch but I'm not sure which one. I know Fitbits are really popular but I think they are ok for all day activity tracking. I need something that tells me how many calories I burn during my workout. So i did some research and Polar Ft7 sounds nice. But Im also looking at Polar A300. I don't really care how many steps I walked or BMR .I want to really track my workouts. Thank you so much

I dont have any experience with a Polar but I know a LOT (at least 8-10 people) who have them and all have had really wonderful things to say about them I have also heard good things about the Garmin Good luck!0

I have a Fitbit zip to track my daily step based activity
And a polar ft4 to track my specific workouts ...I think the HR monitors with chest straps are preferable and have had no issues with the polar brand
I do however appreciate that heart rate monitors are only specifically useful for providing a calorie burn estimate under steady state cardio conditions such as running, rowing, elliptical etc and not for anything else
Bio feedback over time is king..eg monitor weight against calorie estimates (in and out) over rolling 6-8 week cycles and adjust accordingly

Hi
I just bought a Garmin Vivoactive watch & I love it! It tracks biking, running, walking, golf, even swimming! Yes you can wear it in the pool! It has gps tracking. Look it up it's pretty cool! Good luck!0 -
I'm a huge fan of the Garmin line up, and the Garmin Connect Eco System. I had a Gen 1 Vivo Fit, then upgraded to a VivoSmart HR. Had a Forerunner 220, sold it and the VivoSmart HR to roll everything into one unit and bought a VivoActive HR.
I will say the Garmin Connect Eco Systems is more "Meat & Potatoes" than Fitbits eco system. It's pure numbers, and a ton of them. Which is okay with me. I would rather have raw data anyway.
The VivoActive all day step counts, Sleep, HR [Which I only use in my downtime as a recovery tool]. It is water resistant for water sports and showering.
And it will track Running, Cycling, Swimming [Not Open Water], SUPb, Golf as well as a number of other sports. And will connect to external ANT+ sensors like HR straps, Cadence Sensors, Speed Sensors and such. I Typically Connect mine to a Chest Strap for weight training, runs, stair climbs, and such. I do not rely on the Optic HRM for extended cardio exercises.
I actually recommended the Ft7 to a coworker who is looking for something a little bit more basic on the spectrum of HRM/Fitness trackers. It's a nice device for the cash.0
