Chest Pains When Using Polar HRM

Has anyone personally experienced, or know anyone who has experienced chest pains while using their Polar HRM? A friend of mine is experiencing sharp pains in the chest right where the transmitter is located. The more her heart rated elevated, the more unbearable the pain got.

I'm doing some initial research online, but have never heard of anything like this. I've worn HRMs for years and this is news to me.

Would appreciate some input/experiences from my MFP fam.

Thanks!

Shawn

I have not. Does your friend have any extra hardware like pacemaker, defibrillator or the like? My Polar Bluetooth strap lets me take the actual HRM off so it is just a strap. If your friends allows that, take off the unit and see if there is the same problem. If so, I would say it is the pressure of the strap itself, not the HRM part.

No, I have not experienced this. Does the pain stop as soon as the monitor is removed? Chest pain could actually be a more sever problem than the HRM. My best advice, check with the doctor.....just to make sure everything is ok.
