Is it okay to call a cat 'grey cat'?

At one time we had two cats that we called "brown kitty" and "the black and white cat". Eventually nobody even remembered what their original names were.0

Lol at naming your cat when you're just going to end up calling it kitty2

My wife says that Grey Cat is a stupid name, and that she would be too embarrassed to take it to the vet.
Should I give in, or put my foot down on this one!
A friend of mine has a brown dog and it's name is Brown Dog. True story.0 -
Why not!? I like it. My cat is called batcat because the markings on his face remind me of batmans mask.

I used to have a cat name Yellow Cat. We named him that so we wouldn't get attached, but it didn't work.0

If you name your cat Grey Cat, when you take it to the Vets the Vet will probably think that you never got round to naming the god darn *Kitten*. ie "What's the grey cats name?"
You could call it Greydar, or Greyskull, or Smokey and get a dog called Bandit.0 -
ditch the cat and get a dog

I like Grey Cat. She's gonna end up with so many nicknames, it's not going to matter, though.0

We had a gray cat when I was a kid. I was quite unoriginal and called her "Kitty Gray."0

I think if you are expecting to have success winning an argument with your wife by appealing to an online community of any sort you should prolly go ahead and name the cat "Mr. Divorce You-can-have-the-house-dear McFluffypaws III"2

Call it whatever you want when the wife's not there.
My clients cat is named Kitty.0 -
Well grey cats are really called Blue, so you should name it blue cat.2

At the end of the day whose cat is she going to be; yours, your wife's or your sons? whomever the cat was bought for should be able to name her. if she's a family cat, call her whatever and then train her to come when you should 'here puss, puss, puss@ lol0

Smokey is too cliché, IMO. Grey cat is ok... I had a dog named Dog. And a cat named Meow Meow.
Names are not my forte. I'm dreading having to name a child someday.
Current cat is is a 20 lb. orange stripey cat named Doey. Dogs are Moose (german shorthair/lab) and Muffin (heeler/border collie/mutt). Muffin is a misnomer. I thought it was funny at the time, but now when you tell people her name, with her looking all cute and sweet, they think she is a nice puppy. She is not a nice puppy. She herds the cat like a sheep though, so that's always amusing.0 -
Go to the back door, shake box of kibble, shout "Grey Cat! Dindins!"
If you feel stupid, then it's not a good name.
LMAO! My old shih-tzu's nickname was "Mu" (pronounced Moo). The crazy little 13 lb dog went chasing after a 50+ lb 3 legged dog one night and I ended up running down the road screaming "MOOOOOO!" Yeah, think about your neighbors.2 -
You could try Ashe, or Ashley, or some variant thereof, which is a bit more original than Smokey IMHO. My son named his Bengal kitten Sun Tzu, after the famous and brilliant Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu ( 544–496 BC) best known for his book "The Art of War" which is still required reading for British army officers today. (For those who want to know, Bengal cats are a crossbreed of domestic cat and Asian leopard cat, so my son felt it was appropriate)0

Cats never answer to their names, nor get referred to by their real names, so it doesn't really matter.
