Weight lose with COPD

I've been keeping a diary, for about two weeks now, keeping my calorie count no more than 1500, daily. I'm not losing wt, no doubt, due to lack of exercise; health issues make it such a difficult feat. I do move around quite a bit, however, a bad back hinders my ability to walk distances. Is there anyone else out there with similar problems? I need motivation. I'm sixty- three yrs old, and want to live another five yrs, at least.

I know it seems like a long time, but 2 weeks isn't unheard of to not lose any weight. Just take it one day at a time, and make sure you're logging everything. You CAN lose weight with no exercise. All you need to do is take in fewer calories than you're bringing in. I have been out of dietetics for about 10 yrs but back when I was doing my case study as part of my dietetic practicum, my patient had severe COPD and was bedridden. We were looking into a lower carb diet for him because with COPD, as you know, CO2 is harder to expel from the system and it is a byproduct of carbohydrate metabolism. This might help pep you up - it's at least worth a shot - to get you a little bit more oxygen for moving? Again, I am NOT registered or practicing any longer, but you might want to bring it up to your PCP. This might be of some interest: http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/td_020909p54.shtml
    Good luck!
