Eating below my BMR?

My BMR is around 1,740 calories. MFP tells me to lose 1 pound a week, I should eat ~1600 calories a day. Is this healthy or should I up my calories?

Just for the sake of making sure the info is right before any advice is given0 -
MFP actually told you to eat 1600 PLUS your exercise calories. You should never eat below your BMR.0
