Lost 78 lbs then gained 20+ back-need motivation

I am turning 41 in October and I have been working on my weight loss since August of 2011. I lost 78 pounds over the first 12 months and then hit a major plateau. I stayed stuck for about 3 months and I started to walk less and eat more gradually. I gained back 20+ pounds and I want to restart my weight loss. I have started and stopped 3 or 4 times within the last few months. I can't seem to get my motivation back.

    I will be glad to motivate you, as motivating others helps me stay motivated. I'll be 36 in January, myself :)
  • I started losing in August 2011 also. I was at my highest weight then of 563 lbs. Today am down to 283, and still losing. You can do this. You have to decide that you want to be healthy and not let anyone or anything interfere with your decision. I had to tell people if they could not support me, that I would stop talking to them. Sadly I had to stop talking to my father for a bit due to the drama he created the week before I had RNY Gastric bypass last year. You just have to stand up for yourself and stick to it.     I think this set back is actually part of the process of reaching goal. I think if you see if that way then you can see its OK to go through this.

    Simply start with one day at a time, and break down your day into mini-targets, e.g. walking 50 yards further, doing 5 minutes of stretching, cleaning the car inside, doing the laundry, just little things get your midset back into meeting targets.

    Your targets don't have to be to do with exercise, as when you achieve them, you will feel more empowered to meet other mini targets. Hopefully motivation will return.

    Mine were: 1) clean out and old handbags and bin them 2) only drink diet coke on my night out (which I succeeded) (3) buy safron today from turkish shop.

    plus 4) go swimming today..

    I know I will meet all my targets. Other target is lose 1 1/2 pounds by wednesday.
