Has anyone tried a diet bet challenge?

I am considering joining one for 4 weeks with a goal of 4%weight loss in that time. Cost is 25$.

If you have done this, what did you think?

I did one last month. It's a lot of fun! I made $17 back on $10 bet.

I did a six-month "high stakes" where I ended up winning $200-ish when all was said and done.

I think it could have been helpful if I'd not already had MFP, as it was I basically just did what I had already been doing and more or less totally ignored the site except to check in once a month. I was already well into my weight loss and was quite confident I could make the target with ease.

I actually started my journey here with a 100 day fitness challenge. And while it was labeled "fitness challenge" it was a weight loss challenge. 25$ buy in as well. We had to do before and periodic pictures and measurement checkins (every 25 days). And it was done as a Facebook group where we were supposed to post workout pics and challenge pics (one week was adding veggies to your meals) and another was to give up something for a week (like bread or soda).

Ironically, I joined because I wanted to be more fit. Not necessarily to lose weight. At 41, I kind of thought I was stuck where I was. But I joined MFP the first day of the challenge and things snowballed from there. I ended up winning the challenge and kept going. Going on 230 days now and not done yet. I've lost 44lbs to date and am currently eating just under maintenance while doing Strong Curves. So much more fit than I was and about 3 sizes smaller.
