I am pretty exasperated, my clothes fit exactly the same but I am down a stone. Is this normal?

It might depend on your starting point - a stone in a larger person would be less noticeable than in a smaller person - hard to say.0
-
I've gone from 184 lbs to 169 lbs my ultimate goal is between 126 and 130 so about a quarter of the way there!0
-
I think my clothes started feeling really loose about the 20lb loss.0

Are you sure they fit the same as opposed to you have not gone down a size. A lot of people including me refuse to buy up a size so I was wearing a 16 while I probably should have been an 18. It will also depend on your style of clothing, I have recently gone a bit awol and kilo creep set in, I can no longer wear my fitted work shirts because they have no stretch and my arms wont fit into them.
Try actual measurements or use a pair of shorts that cant stretch to monitor your progress.4 -
If you are Apple shaped then that will explain it. I'm Apple shaped and it took a while for me to have to buy a size down.0

The way your clothes fir is subjective. Take measurements with a tape measure. Measure every 2 weeks or so.
If your weight continues to go down your measurements will change.0 -
Also you probably are in clothes that now fit better rather than you busting out of them3

I would say its normal for some people, depending on their body shape. I've lost 13 pounds and have yet to see any noticeable difference (going from 193 to 180). Certainly nothing that would justify moving down a size. But I think the next ten pounds may make a more noticeable difference.
Patience and keep your eyes on your goal!

I lose either inches or weight on a monthly basis. It's weird, but it's just what happens.0 -
perhaps your clothes were elasticated/stretchy? so you aren't noticing inch loss. If you have lost 14lbs then there has to be some change - did you take measurements before you started?1
-
Hi, thanks for the advice everyone. Yes I did take measurements before I started, my hip measurement has gone up half an inch! And everything else is the same. I've been going for 6 weeks now, could it all be water weight? My non stretchy jeans fit exactly the same grrr and my bras fit the same. Maybe it's gone off my wrists and ankles!!1
-
Are you strength training? That's what I notice really makes a difference in the inches.
Also, if it's only been 6 weeks then a lot of what you have lost could have been water weight. I dropped 6 lbs in 10 days but it was mostly water.0 -
Hi Dani, I have been doing some strength training but only from home, planks, press ups etc YAYOG. Can't afford the gym, could I be doing anything else from home? If it is water weight then at least it's gone now and will start losing inches?!0

Try not to worry Heather. I've had the same problem, at a lower weight aswell. I lost 18 pounds according to the trusty scale and went from 154lbs to 136lbs. All my measurements went down by barely half an inch, but that was still super depressing considering I lost almost 20lbs. I also took progress pictures which literally showed no difference. No one commented on the loss either. It was disheartening but the key thing is remembering to never give up. Once I lost 25lbs, it seemed as though all the fat melted. My jeans were practically hanging off me and I lost the inches I so desperately craved. Recognise that it's possible to lose a considerable amount of weight but sometimes it's just not enough or you just haven't reached that point where it makes a big difference on your body, especially at higher weights. With all due respect, 14lbs isn't an immense amount of weight. Who's knows, once you get to 20lbs or 25lbs, you might really slim out. Weight loss is not linear and it's different when it comes to every individual. Have faith. P.S congrats on losing a stone, well done & good luck! ❤️.1

Hi :-)
Yes! Jillian Michael's 30 day shred level 1 and 2 are free on YouTube and level 1 is a great starter workout. That's what I started on to get back into shape after having my baby 6 months ago.
Now I'm doing body weight stuff like push ups, squats, etc. Pinterest is great for finding body weight routines.1 -
I agree with many others on the clothes just fitting better. My first stone didn't seem to make that much difference. I was in a size 10-12 (uk) but was probably actually a 12 and wouldn't admit it. so when I lost a stone I was still in the same size clothes, I just didn't need to wear super strength Spanx to get my dress on properly. Then the next stone has seen my size 10's a little lose and I sometimes even need an 8. Taking measurements is more accurate and listen to the scales...they're telling you that you've done well!0

I might be wrong but I read that sometimes we can't see the results of weight loss in measurements because the body tends to lose internal fat first.
From a health point of view it is very good.
You will see the results eventually.
Carry on with the good work!2 -
Ihad to lose 20-25lbs before I noticed that my clothes were fitting differently.0

I never saw any inch loss until I lost about 20 pounds. Just hang in, keep going and you will get there.
Do you do a any weight lifting? This helped me tremendously with the inch loss while losing weight.

I see my weight lifting question was already answered. Yes! Go the library and look for the book, "You Are Your Own Gym: The Bible of Bodyweight Exercises" by Joshua Clark. You can also look up body weight exercises on You Tube and online.
You can also incorporate weight lifting exercise with things from home: gallon jugs filled with sand (or small rocks if you want heavier), etc.1
