NSV: Gut overhang gone!

Hey, MFP'ers! I'm only five pounds down so far (175 from 180), but I already had my first non-scale victory! I woke up this morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed that my lower abdomen pooch was not hanging over my underwear like it had been for the past six months. It's still there and more prominent than I would like, to be sure, but it's just poking out now instead of spilling out over the edge of my pants. I almost cried. I can't wait to see what else is going to disappear. Maybe the constant thigh chafing that forces me to wear biker shorts under all my skirts? Perhaps the flabby bingo wings that bulge out from the sides of my arms and steal the show in every picture I take with friends? What might the future hold? Anyway, I wanted to share, because I know how hard it is to get motivated when you're just starting out and progress seems really slow and results seem so very far away. I've been dealing with that myself up until recently. What's your NSV?

Thanks, elisa123gal! Also, batwings! Haha, I like that term better than bingo wings, I think!

That is so awesome! I wish my belly would disappear. My NSV is when I saw my 7 year old niece the other day. She hugged me and said Holy Crap I can see your muscles and you aren't even flexing!! BEST NIECE EVER!!!!!

Just took a 2 month progress pic this morning and proved to myself that the scale is really not a great gauge of progress! This is about 7 lbs difference...crlh02gfbjbo.jpg

I agree wholeheartedly about the scale, now I'm only using my clothes and a tape measure to gauge progress. Looking good!

Im nearly at the end of my 5th week and haven't used the scales once. I use clothes. I've already gone down one size so am happy about that. The scales would mess with my head.
