Big challenge ahead- advice appreciated

I've been doing really well the past several weeks and am proud of myself. I'm getting ready to leave for a 4 day family reunion where there will be a lot of tempting food and bevs all day every day. I am determined to track every single day, but any other tips?? My family likes to cook and eat!

Small portions, best guesses, enjoy yourself.

Figure out what your maintenance numbers are, so if you want to indulge a little you at least know where that line is between maintaining and gaining. Fit in activity wherever you can...walking to the store...strolling around the park...every small bit of movement will help...

Set your diary to maintain your current weight.

Go for a walk or two a day and eat back some exercise calories.

That should give you enough calories to enjoy all the good food.

You're not going to be able to track accurately without knowing ingredients. So you have two options:

Log as best as you can as an estimate. This what I do at family functions unless I'm on vacation.

Or just enjoy it. Make sensible choices but don't worry about it and get back on track when you get back. We all deserve to enjoy life, and I personally find that if I'm too busy worrying about food, I'm not enjoying myself fully.

No matter the choice, remember that you might see a gain due to increased sodium and possibly more food in the digestive tract, so you don't become discouraged at it.

Make sure you have the mindset that no matter what happens, you will return to your plan when you get home. Even if you overindulge, a few days won't ruin you! That's always my mindset when I go on vacation. I plan to do well, but even if I don't (I went to a wedding this weekend where I drank more than I planned), as soon as I get back I start tracking again right away!
