I'm participating in an August Pushup Challenge - - 2500 for the month - - which is just about over. You can find it u der tbe Challenges subsection of the forums. I've been doing 100/day. Current total is 2300 with only 200 and 2 days to go.

People in the challenge have been doing them whatever way they want to, so it's hard to guage the actual effort of others, but I've made a point of doing strict plank pushups w/the chest touching the floor and the arms fully bent at the bottom and the body straight w/the arms fully extended at the top.

That's much harder to do and takes longer but that's the only way to get the full benefit from the exercise. After over 2k of them in the past 3 weeks, I can see and feel those benefits in my pecs and triceps. :)

My plan is to make it a habit and continue to do 50 a day - - 100 a day is really a bear to fit in w/all the other things I do - - from now on.

I'm doing the 22 day challenge. Day 16 for me. It's great! I'm making progress and can now do a few full push ups on my toes where when I started I could only do them 3/4 on my knees. I intend to carry them on after the challenge.

Do 22 pushups a day for 22 days. On fbook ones, you post a picture or video of you doing them daily and tag someone daily to do the challenge. I got tagged last night so I guess it's time to work some pushups into my workout plan lol

I'll tag you girl! PM me with your FB.

22 push ups every day for 22 days to raise awareness in suicide in ex servicemen. You must film your push ups and post every day.

There are 22 vets a day that are committing suicide, and this is a small way to raise awareness. You start tomorrow! The rules are simple:
    * Once you are nominated your 22 days start the following day.
    * Every day you record yourself doing 22 push-ups. Try your best to reach 22. If that means doing assisted (from your knees) push-ups or that you have to stop and take a break that's fine but try to get them all done in one video.
    * Every day you must nominate a different person. Try to choose people you think will want to do this and/or have the ability to do it.

I had not heard of this.

Father served 20 years in the Navy.
Father-in-law served in Viet Nam in the Coast Guard.
Best friend served in Desert Storm and 20 years in the Air Force.
One nephew served in Iraq the Army.
Another nephew served in Afghanistan in the Marines.

Consider me your nomination for August 24th.

eta: Just did them, now I need to figure out how to post the video to FB. Oh, and my push-up form...could use some work. Oh, geez. Just went back and looked - was supposed to start tomorrow.

Nominated!!! Post it on your FB, Instagram, Twitter and nominate someone else. My dad and mom were in the Air Force and more than half my family has served.

BTW, It's also helpful to include either of the hashtags - #22kill or #22pushups with your FB or Twitter post since they have a goal of 22 million pushups collectively. "22 Kill" is the organization responsible for starting the challenge to raise awareness. Here's a detailed article on the challenge movement: http://abc11.com/news/internet-challenge-brings-focus-on-veteran-suicide-rate/1335088/

I had started the challenge in April, but had to stop when I injured my shoulder (and being a vet, doing air pushups isn't an option for me). Also not a big FB poster, so I was backlogged with posting my videos from the week or so when I did them. Love the concept of it though.

This would be great idea for a challenge thread here too!

Already did it last month; nominated by gym friend, British Army vet, I'm USAF vet, nominated friends from my former USAF commander, other vets, civilians. It was great!

This is more US-centric but I may do it without the nominating (I genuinely don't know 22 people who would do it, I don't have many friends who regularly workout!).

I lost my dad to suicide when I was 12, he was a Royal Engineer in the British Army before heading to civvy street.
