fitbit question and adding exercise

k so I too off my fitbit while on my elliptical so when I try adding it to my exercise it adjusts my step calories from my fitbit to 1. If i delete my elliptical exercise it adjusts it back to 210 calories burned from steps so far....why can't I have both?
