hi everyone, ive just been diagnosed with hypothyrodism. im currently taking meds for this, but have been told that it could be hard to lose weight and the speed and regularity of "normal" people.
i dont exercise often due to work commitments and soon starting college, however i was wondering whether it would be detrimental if i just didnt add any exercise calories to my diary - i currently record all exercise cals via a hrm. i have gained a stone in 4 weeks with this thyroid business and going on holiday for 10 days. so i really want to get back to where i was.

About the only way to do this is to eat less than your body needs. That way it uses your fat for fuel. If you eat exactly what you need, then you maintain your current weight. If you eat more calories than you need, you gain fst.
Its actually that simple.
Maybe if you consistantly log your calories you will see a trend, whether you are gaining, maintaining or losing.
That way you can adjust your calories to be lower than what your body needs to function and your body will use the fat on your body for fuel and you will begin to lose weight, regardless of any metabolism or other health problems you may have.0 -
Hi Leah. i've got a medical condition that makes it hard for me too, again due to the meds. i started doing c210k 2 months ago and really enjoy a run after work. do you have the time to fit in 2 or 3 half hour walks in the evening or can you download some exercise videos? i stream you tube through my xbox and there are loads of exercise videos. i've also got a (very dusty lol) Wii Fit.
just make sure you are logging your food, eating at a deficit and though it may be slow, the weight will come off. also make sure you drink plenty of water. it's true what they say, water aids weight loss.
i hope some of that helps.

I'm not able to excersize I don't find it blocks weight loss, I just eat less than I need every day. Tdee is what my body needs in calories to sustain optimal health and have the energy necessary. So if I know I am eating a few hundred under that, I know I'll lose fat, even if its at a slow rate. Best wishes op! :-)0

Unless you're doing major workouts of 1000+ calories, it won't hurt you at all to ignore your extra burned calories. I like to think of them as a little weight loss bonus. However, if you are having a tough day eating right, they do make a good fallback so you can still maintain your normal calorie deficit.0
