Maintenance Group

Is there a Maintenance group out there?

I am 1 pound from my goal
How many calories should I up to maintain my weight.

I walk only 30 mins a day, cannot do cardio or aerobics because of bad hip and knees.

There is a maintenance group (I am not a member, just searched for it and it seems active):

About what to do: gradually increase your calories to what you think might be maintenance for you, based on an online calculator. There is a quick-and-dirty method of just taking your current weight in pounds and multiplying it by 13 to 17, based on your activity level. I would say 13 might be a good first approximation for you.

But the truth about maintenance intake is that you don't know what yours is until you experiment. So track your calories for a few months after you reach your goal weight, and monitor your weight closely. When you've established your intake level, you can in principle stop tracking. I haven't stopped tracking, because the truth is, most people are good at losing weight but not good at keeping it off.

About arthritis, obviously talk to your doctor, but do you have any other activities you could take up? An exercise bike, swimming, etc.? You have to stay active to prevent it from getting worse, so that would be a good non-scale-related goal (we discussed the importance of having goals in the other maintenance thread you posted in).

P.S. I believe yoga has been shown to be beneficial for arthritis. You would have to find a good teacher trained in Iyengar--they adjust poses for injuries and other limitations. Or take up Tai Chi, it looks ideal for arthritis.
