Eating out

I am going out to Friendlys tonight to celebrate my daughter's 8th birthday. What is the best thing to eat?

Grilled veggies and a small piece of lean meat or a salad with salmon or chicken and very little balsamic always works for me. (No cake)

For me? I'd probably order one of their double burgers with only cheese and mustard, toss the bun and fries in the trash, and call it done.

Whatever you want - just plan how it fits into your daily calorie budget.

I would eat a small breakfast and lunch so I could eat whatever sounds appealing and have a slice of cake too!

This. Plan ahead, check out calories, and plan the rest of your day around it so you meet your calorie goal. Add some exercise so you have more calories to eat. Or, you can simply look at it as one meal which is part of one day realizing the time celebrating your daughter's birthday is far more important than counting calories for that one event, then get back to things the next day.

I really miss Friendly's. When I was back in New England in May I ate there twice and had ice cream both times.

What's one day? Try to eat light during the day and eat what you want at dinner. Have a slice of cake if there is one because your actions teach your daughter how to behave and skipping cake on a birthday is a bad example.
