Are there any Peleo eaters out there?

I'm looking to hear people thoughts and experiences if you are eating Paleo. I've been on this site for over a year and lost 30 pounds. Then stalled out...I've tried "eat more to lose weight",and just plain counting calories again. Nothing happened. I run and train for half marathons and am training for a Spartan Sprint so I'm no stranger to exercise. I still need to lose this tire around my middle. My husband knows some people who eat paleo and they are feeling and doing extremely well. Skin problems have cleared up,they have lost that nagging belly fat and they have lots of energy. I googled the plan and we ordered Paleo for Athletes. And now, after two weeks of following the plan I'm finally losing weight again. Six pounds!

Ooops! Spelled Paleo wrong!

Paleo is not a good option for distance runners. It takes out the complex carb runners need. I love paleo as a crossfitter, but when i am running a lot, its not the option.

There is a paleo/primal group that you should join. Just click on groups and you should be able to find it easily. There's a lady there that runs marathons that you may want to talk to. :)

Not true. There are plenty of complex carbs you can eat and still be on paleo. Sweet potatoes for one. All veggies are complex carbs. Most fruit are complex carbs.

Read the paleo book or primal blueprint. It discourages extreme cardio.. which distance running is, to best benefit from the diet. Or, keep trying trial and error plans like u have been doing, and stay frustrated. Go paleo. I was responding to ur question with my experience and knowledge.

I'm just disagreeing with you....I'm following the book and eating plan for Paleo for Athletes. I have the book. And I'm not frustrated. I'm having a wonderful success with it. It does not discourage extreme cardio but in fact says the paleo way of eating increases athletic ability. You did say it takes out the complex carbs. do you even know what complex carbs are? Peleo takes out unhealthy foods, grains, sugar and dairy. You eat all the veggies, fruit and meat you want. Lots of energy!! I ran my 11 miles last Saturday with no troubles. Just sore feet.
