Suggestions?!

I have fallen off the wagon pretty bad and NEED to get back on...here is the question, what is everyone's thoughs on low carb vs. counting calories. I have read the book Dash Diet for Weight Loss solution and people seem to have had pretty good success with it. I just don't know if its for me, and also what happens when you add back some carbs...I was just curious and wanted to see if I could find any feedback.
