Compound movements such as deadlifts and squats because you have to keep your core engaged while performing them.

That said, a progressive strength training program can get you stronger all over and most programs involve the movements mentioned above.

Just focus on utilizing your core in every moment . Long as you keep your abs contracted , or contracting while performing almost all exercises, eventually your abs will come in. That being said, you don't need a strict an regime if you're eating clean , non processed foods consistently. Abs are made in the kitchen and maintained in the gym

Try pole dancing, you get a core of steel from that and it's fun as hell :D

I do not think that one needs to adapt to this "eating clean" idea to get a stronger core and legs mentioned here. Compound movements and engaging your core each time you exercise is all you need though a progressive strength training program. If you want those ripped abs, then that will entail loosing body fat % along side a progressive strength training program.

Farmer's walks will engage your core, legs, back, shoulders, arms and grip. One of the best all around body exercises that you can do.

Great way to finish off a workout after doing squats and/or DLs which also engage your back, legs and core.

Why those 2 areas in particular?
